On May 14, 2012, a new European program, "Energy Efficiency and Green Economy", was launched. The program is aimed at implementing sustainable energy solutions in small and medium-sized enterprises. They can apply for projects related to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.
The program has a total budget of BGN 293,374,500. The maximum amount of grant funding for an individual project is BGN 2 million, and the amount depends on the type of project, with the maximum aid intensity being 50% of eligible expenses.
If you are a small or medium-sized enterprise, you first need to decide what type of project you want to apply for: a Technological Project or an Energy Efficiency Audit Project.
For a technical project, you first need to select the equipment you want from the List of Materials and Equipment eligible for financing, and conduct a selection of contractors under the condition of obtaining at least three offers.
For an energy efficiency audit project, you must first sign a contract with a person registered in the public registers under the Energy Efficiency Act to carry out a simplified energy audit. Based on the results of the energy efficiency audit, the applicant formulates the project and then prepares and submits an application form to the Project Assistant (Step 1).
