On May 18, 2023, the largest sports arena in Bulgaria, “Arena Burgas,” was ceremoniously inaugurated. Special guests at the event included the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, the Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, the Regional Governor, Prof. Maria Neykova, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Arch. Ivan Shishkov, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Vessela Lecheva.
The construction of the arena began in 2014, and upon its completion, it has a capacity of 5,200 seats with additional movable stands for another 2,000 people. Arena Burgas can accommodate up to 15,000 people, and the playing surface has a concrete base on which various flooring types can be installed, such as for basketball, volleyball, tennis, athletics, gymnastics, wrestling, boxing, and more. The complex also includes two additional halls and a three-story parking facility.
In late 2022, the team at “DZZD Dvorana” approached “TANGRA” for consultation, selection, and installation of high-temperature smoke extraction fans. Thanks to their years of experience and expertise, TANGRA proposed a solution with Soler & Palau THGT fans, which have been tested and certified for high-temperature operation. After providing the necessary passports and certificates, the fans were approved by the local Fire Safety and Civil Defense service in Burgas.
Within an extremely short timeframe, TANGRA delivered and installed 20 pcs. Soler & Palau THGT high-temperature fans, as well as backdraft dampers for them, manufactured at the company’s factory in Sofia. The TANGRA team completed all the activities in 31 working days – from signing the contract, through the production of the fans at the S&P factory in Barcelona, to the delivery and execution of the installation works. Twelve of the fans have a capacity of 76,000 m3/h and are installed in a specialized structure on the roof of the building, while eight fans with a capacity of 95,000 m3/h are located in two separate sections of the building’s wall cladding. This ensures optimal smoke extraction while simultaneously complying with all rules and regulations for facilities of this type.
On May 18, 2023, the arena was officially opened with a basketball match between Chernomorets-Burgas and Rilski Sportist-Samokov.
